Sr. QA Tech Lead/Manager (TLM)

This is an exciting opportunity for you to work and technically lead/manage a small but talented Software Quality Assurance team within Endicia R&D working on web services, platform applications, and core server side system infrastructure that support shipping and mailing solutions developed in partnership with the USPS and other international postal carriers. You will have a chance to work with a very talented R&D team to make your mark on the quality of DYMO Endicia's critical applications and systems built with Microsoft technology that is used by hundreds of thousands of customers and that processes millions of transactions daily. This opportunity is for an experienced and highly motivated software Quality Assurance professional with a track record of success and a solid understanding of software quality control methodology, processes, tools, and related technologies. This is a challenging, highly technical 100% hands-on quality assurance/engineering technical lead-cum-manager role requiring analytical, innovative thinkers who can build cutting edge testing frameworks and use next-generation automation techniques to successfully test and improve quality of Endicia's core products and services.
Job Description - Essential Duties
  • Ensure delivery of the best quality product. Be the single point of contact for ensuring quality of all Endicia products and services.
  • Review, evaluate, plan, and improve existing and future Quality Assurance/testing environment, infrastructure, tools, processes, methodologies, and resources.
  • Develop and improve QA best practices with collaborative buy-in from all parties
  • Manage a per-release QA plan, using existing testing infrastructure and resources
  • Review historical, existing and ongoing bug reports to identify areas needing specific attention.
  • Test conformance of products to unit, regression, and user interface standards.
  • Be able to articulate, evaluate and evangelize testing strategies (including TDD, TEST-First programming and Acceptance testing) and apply them in Endicia's context as well come up with metrics for realistic testing effort estimation.
  • Be able to handle the complexity of the daily activities and think both tactically and strategically to deliver quick but efficient testing methodology, test strategies/plans to meet our business needs.
  • Work with engineers, managers, Product management, and Operations team to develop innovative testing solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules and adherence to testing goals, and principles that is compatible with release timeline targets.
  • Continuously innovate to find creative ways to improve overall quality and efficiency of the testing team within resource and time constraints
  • Define the quality criteria and the success metrics for various products and services.
  • Assist in estimating testing efforts, planning implementations, and rolling out system changes.
  • Mentor, guide, and coach other QA team members from a technical perspective, in order to make sure they are successful individually and as a team.
  • Coordinate testing efforts by customer support, engineering and offshore QA engineers
  • Collaborate, have fun, and make a difference.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Highly technical. Should be capable of being a developer, but prefer to work in testing and quality assurance.
  • 10+ years experience in a high-technology software company, preferably in an ecommerce domain
  • 10+ years of experience in performing testing and maintaining the quality of multiple complex software products in Microsoft Windows based applications and systems
  • 10+ years in requirements analysis, test planning, unit and integrated test case creation, test data preparation, test execution and test status reporting for scalable, high-volume distributed, multi-tiered, e-commerce applications.
  • 10+ years of Experience with Team Test, Test Complete, SOAP UI Pro, Groovy
  • 10+ years of Experience in QA automation/testing in C# /.NET, java or C++ environment
  • 10+ years of Experience using MS SQL Server or comparable database; Proficient in SQL languages; being able to read and write complex SQL queries
  • 10+ years of Experience testing Web Services (WSDL, SOAP) and REST
  • 10+ years of Experience with XML (XML Parsers, XML Schema, XSLT), HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Have experience with testing of Apps using ASP.NET MVC framework.
  • Experience developing and/or testing Soap/XML/Rest based applications required
  • Experience of continuous integration test environments (like Hudson) and automation frameworks like Selenium/WebDriver/TestNG
  • Experience with developing white box test cases using various unit testing frameworks
  • Experience with black box and white box testing, test automation and code analysis frameworks
  • Experience with API testing REQUIRED and products in Service oriented architecture
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, etc is a plus.
  • Extensive influence over development and architecture counterparts to design for testability
  • Experience in technically leading high performing QA teams in fast-paced environment is needed
  • Understanding of requirements-based testing and software development life cycles
  • Current knowledge of QA testing methods, best practices, and processes
  • Ability to manage phased testing (unit, system, integration, regression, acceptance, etc.)
  • Knowledge of such testing concepts as comparison, usability, boundary, data validation, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of testing techniques to determine appropriate number of test iterations and applying risk-based testing concepts
  • Must be detail oriented and have excellent analytical and investigative/problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast paced and somewhat chaotic environment and manage continuously changing business needs; excellent multi-tasking and time management skills required
  • Experience in working closely and building a rapport with developers, product management, business sponsors, and QA team members; strong customer/business orientation is a plus
  • Strong communications required (oral and written); communicate changes / impacts to QA timelines due to issues, change requests, delays, etc…effectively
  • Must have flexible work ethic to work with offshore development and QA members.

Educational Experience

  • BS in Computer Science/Engineering or related field and 10 or more years of relevant QA experience; MS preferred
